Let's Go For H20!

On Saturday, June 6th, 2026, the Nantucket Land & Water Council hosted the Clean Water Classic on Nantucket Harbor for the first time. This exciting community paddle event brought together community members and paddlers to raise funds for clean water on Nantucket!

Our morning started with gorgeous clear skies and a great sunrise. Participants checked in and received their 2026 Clean Water Classic Patagonia sunshirts provided by the NLWC with help from the Haul Over. Following the safety briefing led by Executive Director Emily Molden and Harbormaster Sheila Lucey canoeists, kayakers, and paddleboarders alike entered the harbor to paddle for a purpose.

After returning to shore, participants enjoyed locally made baked goods and fresh pressed juices generously donated by Lemon Press. Afterwards prizes were awarded for our swiftest participants. Congratulations to:

Thanks to Slip 14, and Banh Pho all participants had the chance to win $100 gift cards to each shop, plus some great Slip 14 swag!

The Clean Water Classic benefits the NLWC’s Water Fund which supports our ongoing water quality monitoring, harbor restoration efforts, PFAS research and education, and youth education programs.

We’re so grateful to everyone who supported the event, including the Town of Nantucket’s Harbor Master, Sheila Lucey and her team of lifeguards, the Town’s Fire Department and Public safety team, Visitors’ Services staff, dedicated committee volunteers Melanie Kotalac and Matt Liddle, and to all of our sponsors whose generosity helped make the 2026 Clean Water Classic one for the record books!
